Online tutorials and whole class lessons for Physics at GCSE, A-level and IB
Giving you the guidance, practice and confidence to achieve your aspirational grade
One hour GCSE online tutorial GCSE Physics | £70 per hour
How often should I schedule tutorials?
Online tutorials are best taken regularly so that you can receive the continuous practice and progressive explanations that you will need to prepare for your exams. Most students take one online tutorial per week. Weekly sessions will allow Timothy to get to know your learning preferences, strengths and areas for development. Weekly sessions will also provide you with regular practice and strong progression.
What will happen in the sessions?
You and Timothy will open a Zoom call and then work collaboratively on an online Whiteboard called 'Bitpaper'. All of the graphics and notes will be shared on the BitPaper and all of the questions will be completed on it as well. After the session you will retain access to the BitPaper so you can use it to revise from later.
When it comes to simulations and animations, you will observe them on a shared screen on Zoom.
Will there be homework?
Extra practice can easily be provided, normally selected past paper questions with mark schemes. Timothy can then assist you with any that you were stuck on and ask you to model how you solved one or two of the questions in the next session.
What equipment will I need?
A reliable internet connection.
A computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone and a camera (most mobile phones are too small).
Ideally a method of writing on the BitPaper (e.g. a tablet, touchscreen or graphics tablet and stylus) - but don't worry about this, Timothy will help you get set up and you can always 'type' to start off with.
Why can't I book online?
Before finalising your tutorial we will discuss what you would like to get out of it and the number of sessions required. We will then discuss the best time for the tutorials to make sure that they really work for you.
Can I book longer sessions?
One hour really is the optimum length. If you feel that you need more support then booking more than one hour a week would be preferred.
How do I pay?
Payment will be by bank transfer. Each week you will receive a short report on how the lessons have gone that week and an invoice for that week.
Timothy is a full time tutor and is available during the school day to take groups of A-level Physics Students or Triple Science Physics students. This may be an ideal solution during temporary or longer term staff shortage or you may be looking for a permanent solution that utilises an elite Physics A-level expert.
The pupils all work on a device (PC, laptop, Chromebook or iPad) and have their own pre-populated work book of questions and exercises that Timothy monitors live. The class projector and screen are used for animation and graphics to explain new concepts. A webcam set above the whiteboard will allow Timothy to monitor the class. These lessons are already running in schools, they provide a strong sense of connection between student and teacher and are highly productive. If required, all compulsory experiments can be completed online through specialised simulation software.
A-level students will need a responsible adult with them (Head of Year, lab tech etc)
GCSE students will need a teacher or Head of Year with them.
Bespoke weekend or holiday booster sessions can also be arranged in the run up to exams.
